When making anime-like figures, do I always need an armature?

Hello everyone! Just a quick question, but I have been looking at anime figure tutorials and like, they use the armature a lot which makes sense. But if I made individual parts and baked then, then glued them together, would the final glued result still collapse under its own weight? thanks in advance for any replies!
