Tenor pad questions

I'm thinking of buying a tenor pad, and I'm really thinking between a Vic Firth Quadropad, or a Prologix Vortex Pro. I really want the Vortex Pro, but I heard it had issues when people try to do scrapes. I also heard online that I could buy spray on enamel or something like to substitute laminates???

1, What would be the better pad option?

2, If I went for the Vortex Pro, does anyone know if the scraping issue isn't that bad, or is there a cheap solution to the laminates?
