Hard to explain to people why I don't like the Pride Parade
It's not an "uwu my #socialanxiety could never" dislike, or the, "well aqchstually Pride was a Riot ✊️" dislike..
It's simply that I dislike it. I actually do hate the microplastics it generates down dozens of city blocks but if I were to go around saying I don't attend pride because microplastics people would think I'm holier than thou.
It's almost like a feeling that it has nothing to do with me. Other people have their discrepancies with pride, corporate sponsorship etc. etc. but they still go because they love the event. I simply don't and I have no real way to describe it.
I was guilt tripped one year into going when I lived in a house that was predominantly queer and trans people, so they felt like I was being "insecure" by not going. I went and it was exactly the nothing burger I anticipated.
With how fast things are prob gonna get fashy I sort of respect that it is something that happens. But like clockwork every year people dislike that I am wholely disinterested in the pride parade and I have no real tangible reason than a feeling. If anyone else can help further explain my thoughts better than I can that would be much appreciated :)
