Another 1099 vs W-2
1099 job
Census of 18-20
Mid-levels do admissions plus dedicated MD admitter
Malpractice/tail covered
Can leave at 4 as long as you're not on call
$370k/yr
No PTO
Can ask for days off as long as they're 3 months in advance (Have an army of PRNs apparently)
W-2
$290k with $35/RVU after 4.6k RVUS in Year 1
$320k with $35/RVU after 5k RVUS in Year 3
3% employee match for 401k and all the other standard bennies
My issue: Census of ~25 patients to start with plus 2-3 admissions that you'd be signing off as the hospital uses a combo of residents plus NPs.
7am-7pm, no real exceptions
Days off? Better ask for the others to cover your shift(s)
W-2 is very tempting to me to do for a few years just to make an ass ton of money. Or am I completely overblowing the potential money that could be made working a job like that?
