About Miller's thumbs-up/-down signal

Something just occurred to me. Miller's Planet's time dilation was something like 1:61,400. Assuming that on Earth they still had something like the modern-day Deep Space Network which receives in the S, X, and Ka bands, Miller would have had to send her thumbs-up/thumbs-down signal by aiming an appropriately-modulated green laser at the wormhole which would be downconverted to X-band at the Earth end.
