PayPal Mastercard Synchrony Bank Scam

I got an email from ppv@mail.synchronybank.com saying that:

A digital letter for your PayPal Mastercard® account is now available to view online. Tap on "View letter now" to review.

I didn't click/tap on the link and will not do it.

I wonder why I'm receiving this email, given that I left the USA 3 years ago, didn't apply for any new card, and put a freeze on all my credit reports.

Has anyone here ever gotten a similar email? What did you do about it?
