Need some tips about knitting.

Firstly hi everyone, I hope you all are having a great day. I am completely new to knitting although I figured out and managed to knit with no mistakes a small scarf. However, I want to try knitting something bigger like a blanket and I was wondering how do I make the edges in a different color than the middle? As well as if anyone knows where I can find baby clothes patterns as all I keep finding are crochet tutorial (I am very bad at crochet and I would much rather stick to knitting as I find it more pleasant).
