Should I be bleeding after IUD removal?
I (32F) had my Paraguard IUD removed this morning. The strings had broken in the initial removal so it was halted and it was removed today under sedation.
When I woke, the doctor told myself and my husband that it was really glued in there with scar tissue so it took longer than expected to get it out. Before the removal, they told me to expect light spotting in the following days, but because it was so much harder they revised that and told us to expect bleeding akin to a heavy period as the scar tissue is expelled.
It’s now been over 12 hours and I have had NO bleeding whatsoever, although I understand that there’s danger with a lot of bleeding too. I’m concerned because two years ago pre-IUD I had a miscarriage that was incomplete (early, I was 8 weeks), and because my body didn’t expel the material I had to have a suction aspiration. So I’m worried that I’m just bad at expelling material.
I know the signs of sepsis to look out for, and I feel totally fine right now, but is that a risk if I don’t end up bleeding? I was told that the risk of sepsis was the concern with the incomplete miscarriage so I’m worried about it happening with this.
