My boyfriend (20M) told me (20M) he is thinking about getting back together with his ex-girlfriend (21F).

I will start with some backstory for this. We are both 20-year-old males and have been good friends since we were 16. We live together with a couple of our other friends. About six and a half months ago, we started dating. I had a crush on him basically since we first met, and he developed a crush on me a year before we got together. We shared our first kiss on our roof outside his bedroom window at night, looking up at the sky. Some real romance movie stuff.

Everything was amazing; I opened up to him like i have to nobody else before, and he did the same toward me. I have a lot more experience in the sexual and romantic field with men, unlike him, as I am the first man he has ever been with. About a month ago, we took things to the next level and made love (as a nice way to put it, I guess). I personally have never enjoyed said activity so much. I felt like there was a real connection there, and he said he felt the same. I mention this because I am not sure if taking it to the next level scared him off or is just a coincidence.

Two days after this happened, I found out he had reached out to his ex-girlfriend. I'm not a jealous person by any means, and I didn't feel like I had reason to be. I put it out of my mind, and things were going as normal with him. A week later, he admitted he was thinking about getting back together with his ex.

I didn't get upset at this; I just asked why and if I had done anything to encourage those thoughts. He made a point to say he truly cared for me and that he wants to be with me, but he also really wants to be with someone he can have biological children with. I know I cannot give him this, obviously. I asked if adopting children would be something he would do, and he said he would only want children if they were both his and his partner's. He then started getting emotional and told me he has never felt so strongly for someone as he feels for me. I told him the same and that if he thinks that even a kid that is only biologically his would ever work, then I would be 100% on board.

He didn't seem to mind that idea, but the thing about this is I don't know if I would really want children. I had a troubled upbringing and I told myself when I was very young that I would not raise someone, but now I feel like if raising a kid means I can have my boyfriend, then I'd do it. I don't know if I'd truly love the child, but I think I could love them just because my boyfriend would. I know this might sound selfish, and it probably is, but that is how I feel. I would do anything he'd want if it meant I could have him until we were old, wrinkly men.

Anyway, the conversation ended with him saying he is going to think about it, but he wants to stay together until he decides. I am too easy for him, so I agreed. It's been almost three weeks since this, and things have felt normal, but I have still had this nagging paranoia. He is still talking to his ex and plans to meet her Friday afternoon. I asked what his intention for meeting her is, and he kind of brushed the question off and said they were just going to talk. I let go of it for the moment and changed the subject.

This honestly scares me a lot; I truly love this man and I have yet to say this to him because I don't know if it would help the situation or just scare him off. I have never been so paranoid about a possible breakup before, and it grows every day.

I guess I am mainly asking if anyone has gone through something like this before? Is there anything I can do or say to convince him to stay with me? Do I just slowly wait for his decision? Do I fight for him? How do I fight for him? I am really lost, and any advice at all would help at this point.
