Solving the Unsolvable - John Samson of Beverly is NOT Henry Samson's son
I'm attempting to solve something that I think was already solved but I lost the webpage in the myriad research bookmarks, folders, and other detritus of genealogical research. I am a descendant of John Samson/Sampson, married to Mary Pease, and who died in the town of Beverly in what is now Massachusetts. Due to several folks trying to link themselves to the Mayflower Compact (and all the cachet that comes along with that), the John Samson/Sampson I am descended from is commonly misattributed as Henry Samson's son of the same name; that particular John Samson died without issue.
I remember a few years ago, I read a short blurb that I think was in the American Ancestor magazine, or at least the blurb was referencing an article from that magazine, that names his actual father and mother. For whatever reason, I'm remembering it as being on a webpage using that beautifully vintage style of HTML, with a blue background and small, italicized text.
So, to my question, does anyone have any research that can trace this particular John Samson back to someone who emigrated from Europe (and I presume would have been crossing during the Great Migration)? I'd love to have some research that can both help to determine how John Samson is linked back to Europe and so that we can finally put to bed the John Samson of Beverly is NOT Henry Samson's son. Any help is appreciated.
