Please reconsider taking Amtrak

I chose to book my first experience on Amtrak and have experienced a 5 hour delay on my return trip. I originally booked this trip because it was comparable to the cost of fuel. In a town outside of NC a small sedan ran into the side of the engine causing a 3+hour delay. We weren’t officially updated on this incident until 2 hours in to the delay. By then I have already surpassed my arrival time. The crew would not give out free waters but insisted they were trying to locate a package of bottles instead of using what was in the diner car. Half of the time the trains didn’t have electricity, therefore the bathrooms didn’t work. No running water. Don’t even get my started on the bathrooms-absolutely disgusting. The crew has no idea what’s going on. The rest of the delays were called up to “traffic on the railway”. Could be. I can’t say that I’ll be using this option for travel ever again.
