WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE HIDING FROM ME??!?!?!?!

TLDR: If you DM me you are far less likely to get a response if your post and comment history are hidden

Im not in psychosis i swear! But why did reddit even add the feature to hide post and comment history?!?! I swear it’s made this platform far worse. Like before i could read something questionable and check their post his and be like “oh yeah ok they are just insane”. Or see someone who is “just asking questions” check their profile and see they ask the same bad faith questions over and over on every post about a trans woman or whatever.

and the thing is IT DOESN’T EVEN WORK!!!!! you can still see the posts and comments just by googling it. It offers no real privacy. just makes it less convenient to spot bots, bigots, and other dickheads. Especially on mobile. And i understand that it’s almost definitely by design, but it’s still so infuriating.

Like as a woman who uses this app to speak to horny strangers, admittedly i understand that’s not its primary intended purpose, but it makes it so much harder to vet people. Before if someone had a blank profile i could just ignore them, now most people do!

I could just see a dm that has weird vibes, check their profile and see they spend all day in fucking MAGA subs defending ice agents or whatever. And then easily just ignore and move on. Now if i am going through hundreds of requests, i would have to go to a separate website all together just to see their post and comment history. Which is manageable on desktop but so fucking annoying on mobile.

Even just finding information: “update on my last post” opens account to see all posts hidden Well fuck me i guess, because I’m not trying to use reddit’s awful search to find it.

“Oh i already answered this in a different comment” WELL OK I GUESS IM TRAWLING THROUGH THE WHOLE THREAD TO FIND IT SINCE YOUR ENTIRE ACCOUNT IS PRIVATE.
