Do top floor apts in the US have separate bathroom vents?

I used to smoke in my balcony, no complaints whatsoever, then winter came along. I switched to my bathroom. It’s been almost 3 months since the switch and didn’t face any complaints. Recently smoked once in the balcony. I got a notice from the leasing saying there’s smell around my building. Now I’m not sure if it’s because the smell went from my balcony or bathroom. I live on the top floor so I am assuming my bathroom vent is not shared with other apts and goes directly outside. What do I do😭🙏
