Got fired after calling off sick a total of once

Idk just seeking some mutual words from people in the trenches of being employed at petco because I got fired today for probably the dumbest reason I have EVER lost a job.

Tldr, last month I was in and out of having the flu since the start of December, and I worked most of that time, but there was ONE day. One day I just could not tough it out to clock in that day, I was running a 100°F fever and it was in the negatives and snowing outside that day. So for the first time in the nearly year and a half I worked there... I called out sick WITH MANAGER APPROVAL.

Now is that my first tardy? No. Early last year I admittedly was struggling to get to work on time, and there were a good few times I was a few minutes late. I commute from a neighboring town. Shit happens sometimes.

But as I said... this was probably no later than like... April maximum. Ive adjusted my morning routine, and ive not been tardy since. So when pulled into the office to talk about my attendance, to say the least i was puzzled.

Apparently my nearly year old lates were still stacked against me, I had no sick time (working part time) to call off sick apparently... and then ALSO they apparently were holding one day I left early WITH MANAGER APPROVAL over my head, because I hurt myself working truck.

2 days within the past couple months where I didnt work my full shift because of health, and LONG corrected tardy behavior. And I get fired for that. I already knew petco corperate doesnt care about its employees, but this is absolutely ridiculous. 1 day sick, 1 incomplete shift, and some MONTHS old lates by like 10 minutes max. Absolutely ridiculous.
