Unable to add dependent on primary applicants profile

I have my parents interview coming up. In my mom's application I added my dad as a dependent. I cant go to the payments page. Right after I enter my mom's case number to continue with the application I get this error.

"The number of dependents on your application does not match the number of applicants associated to your case number. Please return to the manage dependents page and ensure the number of applicants on your application is correct.

usvisascheduling has escalated it to the consulate and they have no response timeline. I am worried I wont be able to schedule the medical and proceed with the interview because of this. Anyone familiar with this issue?
