GHCA and VCU Installed

USA/California

Took my car in earlier this week for GHCA replacement. When I dropped the car off, I asked if they had VCUs available to install. After checking for a minute, they confirmed they had received a batch recently, and could install one for me.

GHCA replaced. Was told that it’s currently the same part number (and hence same design) as earlier, but now it is provided by a different supplier. Crossing fingers there aren’t any issues.

VCU replaced and now running 2.1.24. Presumably the difference relative to the .22 is “general stability improvements.”

Got homelink working with garage opener, and folding mirrors on lock, but haven’t tried out other features yet.

Speculation: batches of VCUs sent out, and perhaps some are already assigned to certain VINs (maybe unsold cars, or cars already in shop for major repair orders), but seems like at least some are available to be installed at the service center’s discretion. Haven’t heard of a more specific roll-out policy.
