I got sued over credit card debt, please help!

So I got sued for 2.1k by discover(who are now owned my capital one) I have several accounts with capital one which are all good, no missed payments! I don’t know if that makes a difference. Anyway, I already responded. Now I was planning on calling to see if I can settle. What’s a reasonable percentage of the 2.1k that you would recommend for me to try and pay. I could pay the full amount but I would much rather pay less if I could! Also, I’ve read that when trying to settle I should try to get everything in writing. How exactly do I do that? I tell them that I want everything in writing and then what? Do I hang up and call them back once I receive the paperwork or what? I don’t understand how that works, thanks in advance!
