Why has Jungkook’s reception in Korea changed in recent years?
Because it definitely wasn’t as negative as it is nowadays. I think it’s more accurate to say this sentiment is mostly coming from domestic K-pop fans and some K-ARMYs, since the GP usually doesn’t care much about idols one way or the other.
I’m not even exaggerating when I say that almost every viral post, short, or video I’ve come across (from Korea) about JK has been negative. That includes a recent livestream from today that I didn’t even know about until I came across a Korean news covering it. From their description, he seemed to be giving off a YOLO, slightly reckless vibe (for an idol's standard) while drunk, giving his friend a middle finger and saying profanities like “fuck you” and “shibal” during the stream.
I’m not an ARMY, so maybe someone can explain why there seems to have been such an influx of negativity around JK's name domestically in recent years. Because from what I remember, he used to be very beloved among domestic K-pop fans many years ago.
