Is it overkill to purchase copper core pots and pans when I am a novice cook?

So I used some copper core cookware recently and I ended up making the best bolognese I have ever made. for the first time people were asking me for tips, complimenting how good it tasted etc. I think I attribute it to the cookware because they did exactly what they "should" do on time and I wasn't feeling the need to rush.

But, as I said, I'm a novice. I may have just gotten a lucky night. So now I am browsing copper core cookware and I didn't realize how expensive they are.

I have also spent the last 8 years of my life searching for things I purchase that will last for a very long time. I want to invest in some quality cookware but at that price and my inexperience I'm worried about spending that kind of money when I "don't really need it unless I am a professional chef".

What's your opinion?
