Stop Using One Model. Start Using The RIGHT Model For The Task

Resources & Tips

Coding agents have a specific style, personality and use-case. I don't recommend sticking with just one, because you are really limiting yourself. Gone are the days when an AI model was clear and away above the rest, and so too should you update your coding workflow. While the responses and personality do differ a lot, not many have explained this and I do believe this is why they prefer one model over the other, but you should still expand your mind and be open to using the model pertaining to your actual use-case.

Gemini 3 Pro/Flash:

I've found this model is great for handling database information. The SQL it is able to produce as well as the amount of information it can retain about your database is far and away the best out of any other provider. Gemini is balanced in it’s personality without being too verbose or too curt.

Claude Opus/Sonnet 4.6:

Really great at front end. Whether that's HTML, typescript, NodeJS, it really knows how to build beautiful front end. It is also very creative in doing so. Additionally, Claude is very capable at finding your intent and handholding you to the solution. This is best for vibecoders specifically as it is very verbose.

GPT Codex 5.2/5.3:

Great at bug hunting and refactoring. If you have old code that could use a tune-up, Codex has your back. Great at backend coding. This model is perhaps the best for actual programmers that can steer the model efficiently and point it to areas that the programmer knows is incorrect or has vague ideas about the actual codebase. Codex is very curt, providing tight responses and minimal explanations, often with just coding examples or terms.

Coders and vibers have it all wrong in terms of choosing just one model or pretending one model is better at every type of coding task. They all have different strengths. You are only limiting yourselves by reducing your choices.
