Is it true that big4 firm prefer "Final year" student than those that already graduated?

Hi, so I'm a recent accounting graduate (finishes my study Nov 2025) and I was talking to my friend about applying to the big4 firm since application is opening next week. We got into this conversation and they mention how big4 seem to prefer people on their final year of study than those that already graduated. I wonder if this is true? If it's infact true, do you guys have any tips or advice on how I can get my foot to big4? I have an accounting internship experience under my belt but it's only for one month. Additionally, I never network when I was in school and didn't apply for any grad program so this is technically my first experience of "Job hunting".
