Day trip from vancouver?

Visiting vancouver in a couple of weeks and looking for some advice, We are there for around 5 days and so far have a few things planned.. walking tours, hockey game few spots arpund the city to visit. But we would like to take a dat trip somewhere so any suggestions for march time ? Whistler or bowen island maybe? Both love nature and view etc want some affordable but fairly chilled. Also any other musts for first timers here!!! Cheees
