How I Slowly Learned to Feel Safe in My Own Life Again After a Long Period of Inner Exhaustion

Experience with Hinduism

Hello everyone,

For a long time i thought healing meant returning to the person I was before everything felt heavy. I kept telling myself that if I stayed productive and calm, the discomfort would eventually disappear on its own. Instead, it lingered quietly in the background of my life.

from the outside i looked fine. i showed up did what was expected of me, and avoided talking about anything that felt complicated. Inside, I felt constantly tense. Rest did not feel restorative. Silence made me uneasy. I did not know how to slow down without feeling like I was failing at something.

i did not arrive at Bhakti Marga with a plan or expectation. A friend mentioned it casually while we were talking about places that helped her unwind she did not try to convince me of anything. She just shared her experience. On a day when I felt particularly drained i decided to go with her.

what I noticed first was how my body reacted. my shoulders softened without me trying. My breathing became slower and deeper i did not feel pressure to participate or understand what was happening around me i could simply sit and observe, and that was enough.

I did not suddenly feel joyful or inspired. What I felt was relief for the first time in a while i was not  bracing myself i was not preparing for the next task or worry. I was just present.

over time, I returned occasionally. not out of obligation, but because those moments gave me a sense of steadiness i started to recognize how harsh I had been with myself how rarely I allowed rest without guilt. Being there helped me notice those patterns gently, without judgment.

the healing did not stay confined to those visits. It followed me into my everyday life i began setting small boundaries i allowed myself to pause before reacting i slept better. I spoke more honestly about how I was feeling, even when it felt vulnerable.

Bhakti Marga did not change who I was or what I believed. It did not give me answers or solutions. It simply gave me space, space to reconnect with myself and to remember that feeling safe does not require constant effort.

looking back i see that healing did not happen all at once. It happened gradually, through small moments of ease that added up over time. And for me, that quiet, steady process made all the difference.
