Just want to Rant here....

I’m a UI designer who recently started a job in Trivandrum and lived there for the past three months. I returned to my home in Madurai this morning, and the contrast is truly upsetting. In Trivandrum, I didn’t notice burning smells from wood, leaves, plastic, or garbage. There was no unnecessary tree cutting, traffic chaos, or random honking. When I booked a Rapido auto, the driver came to my exact pickup spot, checked the OTP, and dropped me off without asking for any extra money. More importantly, the roads were free of potholes, and there were no chaotic share autos. But as soon as I arrived in Madurai today, reality hit me. There’s a burning smell everywhere. People pile up waste in front of their homes and burn it instead of disposing of it properly. Behind my house, a neem tree that stood yesterday was cut down today just because it "disturbed" someone’s cable TV wire. I tried to visit a friend and booked Rapido. The driver immediately called to confirm the location as if I hadn’t entered it in the app. He also demanded ₹50 extra and blamed Rapido for it. During the ride, I saw drivers honking unnecessarily from cars and buses, ignoring signals completely. Even when the Rapido driver signaled for a left turn, two-wheelers zoomed past without any concern. To make things worse, a share auto suddenly cut from left to right for a U-turn, forcing us to swerve. We must have crossed a hundred potholes, and thank goodness elections are coming up, so at least the main roads have been patched temporarily. I was born and raised in Madurai. I’ve seen better days here. I won’t say we are moving backward; if that were the case, it might be considered progress. Instead, I feel like we are moving in the wrong direction.
