So I've finally finished the game and this is the team I ended with (I love the color green but i felt bad leaving ratha out so he stuck with me lmao) anyways here's my thoughts

I absolutely loved the game, the rock, paper, scissors mechanic took a little bit to get used to and i found it a little annoying how the flying system worked bc in my mind I wanted it to be quick and fast but I also understand that this was a DS game ported to PC and so I could over look a lot of those small details. I enjoyed the story it was a sweet bonds and friendship thing and I also loved that navi spoke for the main character lmao. All of the expressions and what not came mostly from him while my character stood these like :| LMAO.

Also I enjoyed the combination of monsters you could get and it gave you time to level up and get the team you wanted for the final fight...but ill be honest barroth carried the entire last fight lmaoo it could've been my fault bc I accidentally made him a little op but never the less I got to use all 6 of my monsties for the last chapter bc i wanted all of them to get some taste of the action. So far though my favorite part has been looking at the concept art and reading the thoughts and notes the artist left behind. I'm an artist so i love doing stuff like this and one of the things that got me to trying MH games was how detailed the artist art for the series. A friend showed me an art book he has and it was like looking at a biology textbook. Im a huge fan of these artist so I'm glad that they put as much love and detail into the concept work for this game. Even if it wasn't as crazy detailed as the main story games the background work and character sheets were very cool.

I give this game a 4/5 just because I want to play 2 and see if I like it way better or if its worse or about the same. But honestly if i end up enjoying both they'll both get 5/5 lol

anyhow that concludes my review im not a pro at this im just going off my feelings but I really do think if you want a good intro to the franchise these story games might be the way to go. It simplifies the entire game and lets you interact with the monsters instead of hunting them down...i will try wilds and what not after i finish 2 and 3 (i will be playing 3). But that's really what was keeping me from playing the main games. They looked a little complicated and It made me shy away a little. BUT I WIILL PLAY ALL DONT WORRY!
