Help me get into GW2

For Context ive 'owned' GW2 since it only had the first 2 expansions, but over all this time, and numerous attempts, ive never really been able to like, get into it? The story (at the start) seems very boring, and levelling seems to just be doing random sidequests, and doing random things on the map. Im unsure if this is just a "rough it out until you get past the start" or what, but I would love hearing peoples opinions! (Slightly added context i own expansions 1 and 2)
