Anyone else still stumped by "80 degrees night and day" S4 E19

This is something I ALWAYS wonder about and have no one to talk about it with. in Season 4 Episode 19 when Anne is excitedlh showing Leslie Tom's luxurious apartment, she points out that "the best part" is him keeping the place 80 degrees night and day. As someone who lives in Southern California and loves heat, I would never allow my place to be this hot. it's 78 MAX, and for sleeping we prefer under 70. Can anyone explain this part or tell me why 80 degrees night and day would ever be seen as a positive thing?
