4-4.5k budget looking to buy 2 Watches
I’m slowly saving up some money and trying to build a small, practical watch collection for everyday use.
Here’s what I’m thinking:
• One rubber-strap watch I can wear with tracksuits to the gym, running errands, etc. I’m probably just going to grab a G-Shock or two since I’ve seen some solid ones on Facebook Marketplace that look pretty good for the price.
• One chunkier chronograph (but not huge — I don’t have the biggest wrists).
• One steel bracelet dress watch.
For the dressier piece, I’m strongly considering a Tudor Prince, specifically the Day-Date. I like that classic steel bracelet, slightly dressy but still everyday-wear vibe.
For the chrono, I’m thinking something along the lines of a Tag Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph — sporty, a little bold, maybe slightly busier dial.
I’m planning to go gray market for the two nicer watches. Budget for the chrono would be around $2,500.
Brands I’m specifically looking at:
• Breitling
• Tag Heuer
• Omega (older models)
• Grand Seiko
• Maybe older Breitling again
I tend to like busier dials — I don’t necessarily want something super minimal.
For context, I’m an attorney and I’m in court basically every day, so ideally it’s something that can still look decent with a suit (on days when I don’t feel like wearing the dress watch).
Would love recommendations for a chronograph in that ~$2.5k gray market range that fits that profile. Open to specific references.
