UT student considering TAMU for grad program + concerns

New Student Questions

Hey all,

I have been admitted to a TAMU grad program but got waitlisted by the UT one. Now, my future looks more uncertain as going to TAMU for grad school seems likelier than ever, which is something I hadn’t considered much. Specifically, I am entering the Bush School, which is already good for the field I’m looking to go into so I’m not too worried about that. My concern is will I be able to make friends in such a small city compared to Austin? I barely made any friends at UT through class, and the majority of the friends I hang out with are from the job I work at. I heard that College Station doesn’t have a lot of nightclubs like in Austin, which is a bummer since that’s where I usually go out with friends. Coming from a big city like Austin, how can I make the most of it in College Station in terms of social life? Any parties at all? Will I be able to make friends from campus+classes? Any advice would be appreciated. I have already been deemed a traitor by my UT peers for revealing that Im seriously considering TAMU as a grad school
