My immediate family requested a wellness check on a relative we have not been able to get a hold of.  Apparently he passed “at least” two weeks ago, according to the officer that found him.  I used to be very interested in forensics and still sometimes watch crime shows so I knew it must have been awful.  The mental image I had was horrific, but in a sort of cartoony way, so I decided to look up the stages of decomposition again in case I was exaggerating.  It turns out that not only was I not exaggerating, but I had forgotten about liquefication and most bugs.TIFU

We are definitely going to have to cremate him and I will probably have nightmares.

Tl;dr I looked up stages of decomposition to try to put my mind at ease, but it (predictably) had the opposite effect
