BIM Master in Germany
Hello, this is my first post.
I’m a BIM Architect in one of the Gulf countries. Lately, I’ve been thinking about moving to Europe to work there. I work at a very good company and have almost two years of experience. I graduated in 2022. After graduation, I thought about shifting my career, but I don’t have the privilege to do that now. So I started earning money with the skills I already have.
However, I feel like I need to leave. The working hours are long, and living here is expensive. Although I have a good salary, I can’t go back to my home country because it’s not safe anymore.
I’ve already started learning German, and I found a BIM program in Münster. I’ve seen many comments on other posts encouraging people to pursue a Master’s degree in design or other engineering programs.
The thing is, I don’t enjoy architecture. I only completed my degree because I was forced to — no complaints now. Work is fine, but I can’t imagine going back to the pressure of university submissions, constantly creating new design ideas, and living that creative academic life again.
For me, the Master’s degree would mainly be a way to enter Europe first and adapt to the lifestyle before starting to work there. It would also open the door for me to become a teaching assistant in the future. I don’t want to waste my time, and I don’t have anyone in my family or among my friends I can consult, since no one is in a similar situation. Immigration is completely new for us because of the war.
Is the Master will really be a waste of time?
