What should I do to cope up with my F grade? I want to try for a high paying job in code ECE

CSE/ECE

Myquals: B.Tech 2nd year ECE, diploma (ongoing) in programming, IITM-BS degree [online].

Please don't laugh at me, i know that I'm an idiot. I'm also very illiterate about the job market, so I might be overestimating/underestimating things here.

Background: I'm a 4th sem ECE student from a tier 2/tier 1.5 college. The last semester i failed a course due to familial+ mental health issues, I also barely passed the other courses with a lot of D's. Since my college doesn't exclude the F grade while counting the CGPA my CG has fell to 6.8. that means i have to write a supplementary exam this summer.

Now, i know the first thing I should do is to get my CG up and reappear for the failed exam. But the next question is: how important is this F grade when in comes to on-campus placements and off-campus placements?

I want a high paying job (≥22LPA).

TI comes to our college for internship and placement (40LPA). Now TI has no *active* backlog criteria, but how far will this F effect my chance to get placed in TI?

I also want to try for off-campus placements in other core companies.

So now the question is — what should I do to build a strong CV which would significantly increase my chances of getting a good package? Regarding "projects" I am already in a few under a professor, which is a pretty big project but the problem is i work in a team and everyone else in my team has a better CGPA with no F's at all. And that many others are working on other good projects as well, so my chances are quite slim.

So, what should I do?

Should I try for GATE and go for an M.Tech instead?

I should also add that i'm doing that IITM BS degree, but I didn't add that because already there are a lot of posts regarding placements in CS/IT, although I'd like to know the effect of a dead backlog in these fields as well.

(P.s. my college differentiates between a backlog and a supply for some wierd reason. A backlog is when your total course marks is less than a 10, in which case you'd have to repeat the internals again. A supplementary is given when the total marks are greater than 10 but less than 35 [which, unfortunately, I just fell short of by 3 marks]. In this case you'd only give the theory exam. But I think from a company's POV it's just the same, right?)
