We waste 20 minutes picking a movie every night, so I built randommoviegenerator.com
Anyone else get decision-paralyzed by streaming apps?
My partner and I will sit down to eat, open Netflix/Prime/Disney+, and then somehow spend 20 minutes scrolling thumbnails until the food’s cold and we’re both annoyed.
So I made a tiny thing to end the debate: randommoviegenerator.com.
It’s basically a “pick for us” button, but with a few knobs so it’s not pure chaos:
- genre (or leave it open)
- minimum rating threshold so it doesn’t suggest total duds
- year / era
- language
We’ve been doing a “one spin rule” on date nights: set a couple filters, hit it once, and commit. It’s honestly saved us a bunch of time.
If you try it, I’d love feedback on:
- what filters would actually be useful
- whether the rating cutoff feels right
- any bugs you run into
