Mathematical realization about Peasant Bowman.

Giving them Light Armor is mathematically the wrong choice.

Light Armor has a 1/6 chance of saving against a wound at AP 0. This means that, on average, every 6 models of Bowman will take 7.2 Wounds to kill. This translates to 1.2 Wounds per model.

But Bowman cost 5 points apiece, and giving them Light Armor ups their cost to 6 apiece.

A unit of 10 LA Bowman costs 60 points. Which is exactly what 12 Armorless Bowman would cost. A unit of 10 LA Bowman take 12 Wounds (on average) to kill, which is exactly what it also takes to kill 12 Unarmored Bowman.

In the meantime, the Unarmored Bowman are making 2 more attacks than the Armored unit.

And all of that is assuming they're only getting hit with AP:0 attacks. Add in any amount of AP and the armor is entirely pointless.

Previously, I had just sort of intuited that I shouldn't give them armor. But it's fascinating (to me) to see how mathematically it just doesn't make any sense.
