Just Makeup | first episode thoughts ðŸ’💄📺
i just started the first episode of just makeup, and i’m curious if anyone else feels the same way.. some of the looks feel a bit flat to me.
i understand that korean makeup is known for its natural, skin focused aesthetic. the emphasis on clean base, soft gradients, and subtle enhancement is part of what makes k beauty so distinct. and honestly, achieving that effortless no makeup makeup look is incredibly technical. it requires precision, restraint, and strong control of texture and color.
but at the same time, i was expecting a little more impact, especially from seasoned makeup artists competing on a show like this. while the looks are polished and technically sound, some of them feel visually safe or restrained. i can’t help but wonder if the cultural preference for natural beauty sometimes limits how far artists are willing to push their creativity.
it’s still early in the season, and they’re probably easing into it. i’m hoping future episodes allow the artists to experiment more and show a wider range and more personality in the next challenges. lmk if u feel the same way
