Why is it that the bands on my agates will sometimes rub off in the tumbler?

Hey what’s up everyone, hope you all are doing great! I just had a quick question, sometimes when I’m running a few agates through the rock tumbler I’ll notice some of the bands on a few of the agates have been sorta rubbed off. Does anyone know why?
