Red flags to notice in teaching jobs

Hi!

I am a current PGCE student and I have started to tour potential schools for a job in September. However, I am convinced that unless the school was really awful I would not notice any red flags until it was too late.

Have you guys got any advice for questions to ask on these school visits or even small things to look out for?

I’ve only been on one school tour where I thought the behaviour policy on their website was harsh (losing lunch time play for a ‘red card’) but when I asked the headteacher said he’d only started in September of this academic year and he agreed the policy was “draconian”.
