Breaking hair at my hair line! What is happening?

I have noticed since Christmas, I have very coarse, kinky hair right at the front of my hairline. It is the only place I have this sort of hair. And it has only started growing since December.

I was weirded out by the crazy texture of it, which is very different from my normal straight hair, but was thought it was just old menopausal me.

Until this morning, I realize it is actually breaking off. Little hairs are all over my shoulders and the front of my sweater. They’re coming from these coarse, kinky bits at the front of my hairline, but nowhere else.

It has left me with a crazy look of kinky hair. Short pieces on the sides about an inch long, with longer pieces in the middle about 2 inches long.

Can someone please explain what is happening to me?
