Opinions on Pearl Gourmai / Honey Gourmai
So I’m thinking about getting a feature fish for my 123 litre (32.5G) tank. Tank mates would be 8 rummynose, 6 corys and a bristlenose pleco.
From my research I’ve found that pearl and honey Gourmai are more hardy and less susceptible to that disease most of dwarf gourmai have. But it’s probably still possible for them to get the disease too.
I’d either be looking to get 1 male pearl Gourmai or 2 female honeys. What do you think is the better option? Apparently the honey Gourmai can be a bit more shy but very peaceful. They’re smaller though which is why I’d be looking to get 2 of them, and then I’d heard males can be aggressive at times so I thought 2 females would be better. Then since the pearl Gourmai are bigger I thought one male would be better since he wouldn’t fight around breeding time if there was no female. I do prefer the slightly bigger size of the Pearl Gourmai and think it’d be more of a ‘wow’ factor but I’ve also just heard a lot of good thinks about Honey’s so I’m conflicted. I’ve had a variety of fish over the 9 years I’ve been keeping them but never any Gourmai.
Thoughts? Also, if there’s any other centrepiece fish that you could recommend for my tank if you don’t think I should go for a Gourmai, please let me know. TIA.
