How to work for someone you don’t respect?

There has been a lot of restructuring in my company recently and I knew my team was likely going to be a part of it eventually. I currently work for someone that has very little to do with my day to day work but our output flows to the rest of his team. I get my work done with very little to no support from him. It’s been working well. My probable new boss manages other teams that do more similar work to my team for different projects. The only reason we haven’t been amalgamated earlier is that they do not have to same impact on future tasks like my team does (the output that flows to the rest of my current managers team). In the grand scheme of things this change is logical. The problem I have is that I have absolutely no respect for my probable new manager. I am constantly hearing from others that he is very non responsive on issues and I have frequently been brought into issues that should not be my problem because he doesn’t help (I used to manage a team that he is currently managing the new manager of and still have some impact on). I also know there tends to be lots of drama on the teams he manages and he tends to pawn his problem employees off on other teams and potentially holds other high performers back because he knows they make him look good.

My probable new manager has set up a call for us next week in which I’m assuming I will be told I will be reporting to him now. How do I even approach this meeting when I have no respect for the man?
