With HDD prices skyrocketing, anyone consolidating separate 4k/1080p libraries?
Ive got 9 TB of 4k Movies/Shows that I keep around for things I specifically love or want the best quality of (attenborough documentaries, prestige tv, etc). Im reaching the upper limits of my current storage and have been considering consolidating into one library to get back some storage runway for the next couple years.
I use an Nvidia Shield TV at home, so no codec/hdr issues on my end, but has anyone done this and run into issues with other people playing some of the higher quality files? I have symmetrical fiber now, so upload speed shouldn't be a bottleneck, and the intel iGPU should theoretically be enough to handle the transcoding of 4k -> 1080p and sdr transcoding, but Im hoping for some first hand experience from people with it.
