Why did John Fanta keep saying that we are not really in the lead in the Big East?

Last night, Fanta kept saying or implying that, even if we win out, if St.Johns wins out they will win the 1 seed. Everything I can tell shows that Creighton > Providence so I thought if we win out, we will be the 1 seed. Can someone help me understand or correct me if I’m wrong?
