Car Accident

So we friends rented hundai sedan for one day and it got crashed as one driver suddenly came in our lane while exiting the higway, so to avoid the crash him and my driver got panicked and pull up in his lane and both got crash and now the owner whi rented the car is asking 6000 dollars as we are in fault and in wrong lane at the end and 2000 dollars the other driver, What should we do PLEASE HELP , Should we directly pay him money ?
