too picky to date, but couples still make me feel single... why the flip-flop?
I’ve never been in a long-term serious relationship. Everyone I’ve come across so far has been either too young, kinda boring, or just straight-up not up to my standards. I genuinely can’t bring myself to date someone I feel is below what I want/need.
But then I’ll be out walking around, see cute couples holding hands or laughing together, and this sharp prick hits right in my chest like “why are YOU still single?” It stings for a minute. Then I get home, back to being alone… and poof, the feeling disappears completely. I’m back to my normal self, content, no big deal.
What is that about? Is it just FOMO in the moment? Am I actually okay being single, or is something deeper going on? Anyone else experience this cycle?
