Roland D-05 Sysex Backup Mess

I made a backup of my D-05 patches before loading in new banks to check out some patches. I didn’t notice it at the time but the resulting backup file was 272 messages, whereas all my previous backups were 136 messages, exactly half of today’s.

When I go to bulk load the backup into the D-05 I get a MIDI Comms Error. I’m pretty sure this is due to the double sized file.

I have a properly sized backup from a couple of weeks ago and it loads fine. I would rather be able to access the recently made one (the one that’s double sized).

Google suggests opening the file in a hex editor and removing the redundant data. I opened the file in a hex editor but I really have no idea how to edit it. How would I go about doing so???
