I’m proposing a system designed to improve gold recovery accuracy in conveyor-based mining operations.

💡 Core Idea

Instead of trying to extract gold-bearing soil at the exact moment of detection (which is difficult due to conveyor speed), the system separates detection from extraction.

A sensor mounted under the middle section of a conveyor belt detects gold signals and logs precise coordinates (for example: 30 cm from belt start, left side).

Rather than grabbing immediately, the system waits.

When that exact belt section reaches a fixed extraction station (start or end of the belt), a robotic arm automatically moves to the stored coordinates and extracts only the targeted soil.

Think of it like:

“Detect now. Extract later — at the right moment.”

⚙️ Technical Framework

1️⃣ Zoned Conveyor Belt

The belt is divided into indexed tracking sections for spatial accuracy.

2️⃣ Gold Detection Unit

Sensor system records detection coordinates and timestamps.

3️⃣ Position Synchronization System

Encoders track belt speed and movement to predict arrival time.

4️⃣ Robotic Extraction Arm

Fixed at one station. Executes precise extraction when the tagged section arrives.

5️⃣ Dedicated Gold Collection Bin

Extracted material is separated without interrupting flow.

✅ Expected Advantages

Higher gold recovery precision

Reduced material waste

No need to stop the conveyor

Lower mechanical stress during detection

Scalable for automation & AI integration

🧠 Engineering Perspective

This is essentially:

Detection + Delayed Target Extraction

A control-systems approach where spatial data is stored and executed later at a mechanically stable point.

I’d appreciate feedback from mining engineers, automation specialists, or anyone experienced in sensor-based material sorting.

Is this feasible within existing processing plants?
