Has anybody used Oana Health for topical Spiro? Also interested in hearing from anyone who transitioned from oral to topical
I've been taking oral Spiro since November 2023. It's worked great for clearing up my acne and for the first 1.5 years I did really well on it and had pretty much no side effects. However in the last four months or so I've started getting my period literally every other week. Not just spotting either but full flow, 5-days minimum every time. I am not able or willing to go on birth control to try and fix it.
It's really starting to take a toll on my physical and mental health but I know my acne will come right back if I stop the Spiro (I still get pimples here and there, especially around my period) so I'm looking into getting the topical. Nurx tried to prescribe me Winlevi in the past but it was insanely expensive and not covered by insurance which is why I went on the pill in the first place.
I found that Oana Health seemingly has it in a topical and from the sounds of it, it isn't combined with antibiotics or other actives like some of the other sites which really appeals to me because I have super sensitive skin that can't tolerate a lot of actives and I also have to avoid antibiotics. However when I went to their site and clicked 'start your treatment' it's wanting me to automatically pay up front for the cream before the physician consult to even approve it which makes me a little leery.
Has anyone used Oana Health for topical Spiro and had a good experience? Are they legit? Is the 'physician consult' more of a formality and they just give it to you without too much hassle? I ask because I've had to fight with Nurx in the past just to up my dose of Spiro so I'm just leery of forking over the money up front without even knowing that they'll prescribe it for me (though I can't imagine why they wouldn't given my history with Spiro/hormonal acne).
Also, would be super interested to hear the experiences, good or bad, of anyone who transitioned from oral Spiro to topical. I'm really afraid of my acne coming back but I can't live like this anymore 😭
