New to investing — am I overthinking portfolio allocation?
Hey everyone, I’m still pretty new and mainly invested in broad index funds.
Lately I’ve been trying to understand my portfolio a bit deeper, like sector exposure, US vs international split, overall concentration, etc. I used a portfolio tool (tryLattice) to visualize it, and it actually helped me see things more clearly.
But now I’m wondering… as a beginner, is this helpful or just unnecessary complexity?
For those who’ve been investing longer:
-Did you analyze your allocation early on?
-Or did you just stick to simple index funds and ignore the details?
-When does “learning” turn into over-optimizing?
Just trying to keep things simple without being careless.
