Potty training SOS
Our just over 2.5 year old boy (he’ll be 3 in 4 months) is having a tough time with potty training. He started showing interest in the potty around 2, so we introduced a little potty and casually let him explore it without pressure. Since then, he’s gone one the potty (pee and poo) multiple times.
We tried the underwear only 3-day method in December and it didn’t go well. He’d pee his pants and not tell us and just sit in it. Poops were on the potty 1/2 the time. We took a break and he’s been in pull-ups since then and we take his lead (some days he’ll let us know he has a poop feeling and he’ll use the potty).
Lately he hates getting changes and it’s often met with him screaming, hitting, biting us. He often wants to poop and screams (ear piercing) at us if we ask him to use the potty, go near him, attempt to change him. We’ve offered just pooping in his pull-up in the bathroom if he wants privacy but alas, the cycle of diaper change battles continues.
