Diode Dynamics Hitchlight with reverse light tap?

I have been searching but failing to find someone who has done this successfully.

Base install for the hitchlight is cake but it has a 4’ long extension to tap into the reverse wire(i have 4 pin trailer light)

the only video i have seen is showing wire in the hatch, but that would be too far a run .

Has anyone done this or know a better place to snag the reverse wire?
